You're Invited — Sport Combine
Canada’s niche winter sports are looking for the next athlete ready to fly or slide.
Thank you for stopping by and showing interest in niche winter sports during the Team Canada Fan Fest. It was great connecting with people who were curious about what it’s like to fly through the air or race down the ice in some of Canada’s most adrenaline filled winter sports.
We’re recruiting! Think you might be built to fly or slide? Come test your speed, power, and agility at our Sport Combine and discover which winter sport your athletic profile may match with.
A Sport Combine is a structured athletic testing session where we measure qualities like speed, strength, balance, and coordination to identify athletes who may have potential in sports like ski jumping and Canada’s sliding sports.
We’re hosting our next Sport Combine on March 28 from 1:00–3:30 PM at the Bob Niven Training Centre on the WinSport Campus in Calgary. This event brings several winter sports together to test athletic ability and introduce athletes to possible sport pathways.
Sports involved:
Luge | Skeleton | Bobsleigh | Ski Jumping | Nordic Combined
Age: 12+
Cost: $20

This combine is a structured testing session (similar to RBC Training Ground) designed to evaluate key athletic qualities that show up across these sports, including:
-
Speed, strength, and power
-
Balance and coordination
-
Movement quality and control
-
Ability to perform under fatigue
No experience in any of these sports is required. Most people attending will be completely new.
The goal is simple: give athletes a chance to test themselves, learn about these sports, and see if one might be a fit.
Depending on interest and results, this could lead to opportunities such as:
-
Trying sport-specific training sessions
-
Cross-training opportunities across multiple sports
-
Invitations to future athlete development initiatives
Even if you never pursue one of these sports long term, you’ll leave with a better understanding of your athletic strengths and how they translate into high-performance environments.
Questions? Feel free to reply to this email.
If you know someone who might be built to fly or slide, feel free to share this opportunity with them.
The next great winter athlete might be you. Come find out.
