ABOUT ALA

The Alberta Luge Association is recognized as the official provincial sports organization responsible for the governance of Luge by the Canadian Luge Association.

ALBERTA LUGE ASSOCIATION

The Alberta Luge Association ("ALA") was incorporated under the Societies Act of the Province of Alberta on January 21, 1983.Since then ALA has operated as a non-profit provincial sports association promoting the development of Luge training and competition in the province of Alberta.

 

ALA is recognized as the official provincial sports organization responsible for the governance of Luge by the Canadian Luge Association ("CLA"). CLA sanctions, monitors and assists all competitive Luge programs held in Canada. CLA is recognized as the official representative of Luge in Canada by national and international groups such as the International Luge Federation.

 

ALA currently hosts 2 Provincial Cup races and a Provincial Championships, as well as co-hosts the Luge World Cup and JR Luge World Cup annually.
 

MISSION

The Alberta Luge Association exists to ensure the continued successful growth of the sport of Luge in Alberta through the development of its athletes, coaches and volunteers at the recreational and elite levels. 

OBJECTIVES

  • Promote and improve the quality and standards of, and increase interest in, the sport of Luge in the province of Alberta.

  • Affiliate with the Canadian Luge Association.

  • Disseminate information, and instructional materials on the sport of Luge.

  • Promote the ideals of good sportsmanship and physical fitness through Luge activities.

  • Conduct provincial competitions for the purpose of sending Alberta representatives to national and regional championships.
